During Pre-Independence period, multi-level dignitaries residing in Mumbai Region of Teli Community came together on (Margasirsa Month) 17th December 1928 to celebrate the occasion of The Great Saint Tukaram’s follower Shree Jagnade Maharaj’s Death Anniversary for unity and to strengthen Teli Community spread in different part of Mumbai City. This lead to the incorporation of “Teli Seva Samaj”; a social organization in 1949; with an objective to curb the differences and raise the affection in the Community. Work began to raise the educational, cultural, social and economic status of the communal members by strengthening the community by the members of “Teli Seva Samaj”. Teli Seva Samaj started felicitation and appreciation of successful students, scholars, professionals and also businessman, MLAs, MPs of teli community within Maharashtra state. At the same time the co-operative movement started catching the fire. It was every communal members dream to have our own Co-operative credit society and they took inspiration from the movement and decided use this movement for communal member’s growth and betterment by fulfilling their dreams through financial route.

This inspiration resulted in the birth of SVSP on 1st January 1966 in Teli Seva Samaj office. On 26th January 1966 with 155 stake holders and with Rs. 3,052/- SVSP applied for membership License. The first AGM was successfully held on the auspicious day of Ram Navami 31st March 1966, Honorable social worker Shri Nana Sakharam Kunkeshwar (Chavan) chaired the AGM as Chief Guest along with the presence of Sub-Registrar at Maharashtra High school, N.M. Joshi marg, Mumbai 400013. In this AGM the board of directors were elected and officially designated from April 2015 as below.

Chairman – Shri Namdev Kandalgaonkar, Deputy Chairman – Shri Mukund Sakharam Kamatekar, Deputy Secretary – Shri Dattaram Ramchandra Rane & Shri Vasant Sitaram Kuralkar, Members – Shri Yashwant Hari Adivarekar, Shri Dhondu Arjun Talawadekar, Shri Arjun Bhagoji Matkar, Shri Yashwant Shankar Pawaskar, Shri Shantaram Govind Kinjwadekar, Shri Raghunath Govind Rane, Shri Yashwant Hari Adivarekar.

Then till date, during last 52 years organizations proceedings are managed by Teli Seva Samaj,Mumbai. All the dignitaries, Mrs. Jayashree Namdev Kandalgaonkar, Anant Bapu Dabholkar, Atmaram Shankar Dicholkar, Gangaram Gharu Rasal, Pandurang Mahadev Rahate, Madhukar Ganpat Talawadekar, Keshva Govind Holakar, Mahadev Vishnu Kondurkar, Vasant Nana Kunkeshwar (Chavan), Sadashiv Sitaram Kuralkar, Ankush Sitaram Salaskar & Dattaram Wadekar were among those, who initially contributed to the growth of SVSP. In 1978-79 Society office was shifted from 6/36, Khimji Nagji Chawl, Senapati Bapat Marg, Lower Parel, Mumbai 400013 to the current premises of Teli Seva Samaj,Mumbai c/o Shree Vishweshwar Sahakari Patpedhi Maryadit, Mumbai S.N. path, Lower Parel, Mumbai 400013. Since then the society grew substantially. SVSP’s first branch was established in Jogeshwari under the guidance of then Chairman Shri Chandrakant Narayan Satvilkar. Now within the tenure of Chairman Mr.Dilip Dashrath Kelambekar, we have open two new branches at malad on 10th January 2016 and at Bhandup on 1st June 2016.
